A resident of Hamden, Connecticut, Kevin had built a remarkable career in hospitality over the past two decades. He was best known for his dedication to building welcoming spaces, nurturing teams, and creating experiences that brought people together.

Before launching Haven Beer Company in early 2024, Kevin served as Director of Operations and later General Manager at Dockside Brewery in Milford, where he spent over five years shaping the brand into one of Connecticut’s most vibrant waterfront destinations. His leadership, creativity, and commitment to excellence made Dockside a local favorite and a cornerstone of the community.

Prior to that, Kevin spent an impressive 15 years as General Manager at Eli’s on Whitney in Hamden, where he developed a reputation for his warm approach, steady guidance, and deep care for both staff and customers. His career also included key roles with Prime 111 / Barra / Taco Co. and Scottie Dog Orthopedic Solutions, reflecting his wide-ranging skills and entrepreneurial drive.

A graduate of Quinnipiac University (Class of 1998) and Lindenhurst High School (Class of 1994), Kevin’s journey was defined by his work ethic and his passion for people.

Tributes have been pouring in from friends, colleagues, and industry leaders who remember Kevin not only as a brilliant professional but also as a genuine and caring friend.

Scott Dolch, Executive Director of the Connecticut Restaurant Association, shared a heartfelt tribute:
“This past week one of our former @ctrestaurantassoc board members and dear friend Kevin Fitzsimmons passed away unexpectedly. Kevin truly defined the word ‘hospitality,’ as he cared so much about his staff and his customers. I owe him a lot — he supported me from the beginning at the CRA and was always encouraging others to support the association and our industry. I will deeply miss those calls and texts where we checked in on each other and rooted for each other’s success. Rest in peace, Kev. I will do my best to continue to make you proud.”

Kevin’s colleagues describe him as a leader who led by example — someone who believed that hospitality was about more than service; it was about connection, kindness, and community. His presence brought energy and laughter to every room, and his dedication inspired countless others in the industry to follow their dreams.

He will be remembered as a mentor, a visionary, and a friend to many.

Funeral and memorial service details will be shared by the family and Haven Beer Company in the coming days.

Kevin Fitzsimmons’ passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved and worked alongside him — but his legacy will live on through the establishments he helped build, the people he inspired, and the community he served with so much pride.

Rest in peace, Kevin. Your passion for hospitality and your kindness will never be forgotten.
